Mini Pallet Delivery

Shipping a single heavy item can be complicated to price. These items are often too heavy/risky for standard parcel couriers, but they feel too small to justify the cost of a standard freight shipment. That’s why we’ve designed our quote engine: to find mini pallet delivery tariffs that bridge this gap.

Now, you can access to the cheapest possible way to move dense, compact goods. When you use our instant quote tool, we compare carriers like DPD, UPS and DHL to find space on vehicles specifically allocated for smaller freight.

What qualifies as a mini pallet?

A mini pallet (sometimes called a ‘micro’ pallet) is the smallest commercial freight category available. It’s designed for lightweight, compact consignments that are too heavy for a parcel carrier but don't need the 250kg allowance of a quarter pallet. To qualify for mini pallet delivery from the UK, your goods must fall within these strict limits:

Weight

Your shipment must not exceed 150kg. If your goods weigh 160kg, you will need to book a Quarter Pallet (which allows up to 250kg).

Height

The maximum height for a Mini Pallet is 60cm, and this measurement must be taken from the ground to the highest point of your item, including the wooden pallet base.

Base

Just like our larger options, the goods must fit within the standard UK pallet footprint of 120cm x 100cm.

How to pack a mini pallet safely

Mini pallets often contain small, dense items, so when siting on a standard-sized base, they present a unique stability challenge. Unlike a full pallet of boxes that naturally interlock, a single concentrated load can easily slide if anchored incorrectly. To give your mini pallet delivery from the UK, the best chance of arriving in the UK safely, secure the item to the pallet itself:

Centre the load

Always place your item in the dead centre of the pallet base. Never leave a heavy item sitting on a corner or edge, as this increases the risk of the pallet tipping during lifting.

Strap

Pallet wrap is not strong enough to hold 100kg worth of goods in place if the vehicle brakes. You must use heavy-duty banding or ratchet straps to bind the item securely to the wooden pallet planks.

Wrap

Once strapped, now you can apply pallet wrap to the entire consignment.

Flat top

Since Mini Pallets are short (under 60cm), they are likely to be loaded on the bottom deck of the truck. Whenever possible, make sure the top of your goods is level and protected with a cardboard.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Mini Pallet and a Quarter Pallet?

The main difference between quarter and mini pallet delivery is the weight allowance. Both specifications often share a similar height restriction of roughly 60cm, but the mini pallet is a specialised rate designed strictly for lighter goods up to 150kg. A quarter pallet is the next step-up and allows for heavier loads of up to 250kg

Does the driver bring a pallet with them?

No, the drivers in our partner networks act strictly as collection agents and do not carry spare pallets, pallet wrap, or strapping materials.
